Build a Museum…FOR SCIENCE!

If you can spare any cash at all, no donation is too small.  Read the details and donate here.

In short, Nikola Tesla’s old laboratory and the associated land is for sale.  A buyer wants to turn it into a retail center.  A nonprofit (the one you should donate to) wants to buy it and turn it into a Tesla Museum.  If the nonprofit is able to buy the land, it will henceforth be protected as a historical site.  If the retail center buyer gets his hands on it….bye-bye to a great piece of history.  Tesla is way super awesome, more cool than Edison (read about it here), yet he doesn’t have a museum in the United States at all!  You can change that by donating.

Almost $100,000 has been raised in less than 24 hours.  In the time it took me to write this post, another $10,000 was raised.  I know that with as many people as possible, this organization will have the money by the end of the week!  Any donations in excess of the goal amount will be used for renovations and for the creation of the museum.  The goal amount only BUYS the land!

Donate to a great cause – science – instead of buying your morning Starbucks.  It’s worth it, I promise.  I’ve already donated everything I had on my debit card… but then again, my husband is a Physics graduate student.  It seemed fitting.  If you can toss a dollar or five their way, it is all very much appreciated!

  1. You should call my favorite late-nite talk radio show about this

Could you do it for me? :)

  2. It has been done. If he (or an employee) reads all his email like he claims, maybe you’ll get some pub for this thing. Good luck!

The goal was reached within a week but they are still accepting donations. Any excess past the goal amount goes towards the actual renovations and museum-building, so I know anything your friend would like to donate (or urge others to donate) would be very much appreciated!
